Israeli judoka Baruch Shmailov was European U3 Champion in 2013 in Samokov. He won silver at the Grand Prix in Zagreb in 2016. In 2014 he won bronze at the Junior World Championships in Miami. Shamilov won silver at the Grand Prix in Tbilisi in 2015. He won a bronze medal at the Grand Slam in Baku in 2017. He took a bronze medal at the IJF Masters in St. Petersburg in 2017 and silver in 2018. He took a bronze medal at the Grand Slam in Düsseldorf in 2018 and in Zagreb and silver in The Hague.

Georgian Vazha Margvelashvili won his first Grand Slam gold medal to guide Georgia to top spot in the medal table. World number four and Tbilisi Grand Prix winner Margvelashvili defeated world silver medallist Yerlan Serikzhanov (KAZ) with a late show in golden score.
