Four time gold medallist Natalia Kuziutina surprisingly lost her quarter final against the experienced Andreea Chitu of Romania and sent Kuziutina back to the repechage contests. Chitu showed to be able to stunt today. Chishima Maeda of Japan bested Tel Aviv Grand Prix bronze medallist Fabienne Kocher of Switzerland by a waza-ari score to capture her first gold medal on the IJF World Judo Tour.
