World vice champion 2015 Karl-Richard Frey was European Junior Champion in 2010 and won European U23 bronze in 2012. He took Grand Prixs in Rijeka and Qingdao in 2013. Frey reached the world top 3. He won 12 World Cup medals. His highlights are World Championships bronze in 2014 and silver in 2015. He finished fifth at the Olympic Games in Rio. He took silver at the Grand Prix in Budapest in 2018.

World champion Aaron Wolf showed no signs of being off the circuit for 12 months as he won gold in Budapest as he did one year ago at his first World Championships. Tokai University judoka Wolf, who was wearing his red backpatch for the first time, in his comeback event, looked sharp and was ruthless with his ashi-waza which he used to setup the majority of his scores. Düsseldorf gearing up for first Grand Slam in new venue

For the Grand Slam in Düsseldorf starting on Friday 446 athletes are registered, more than the 344 of last year. In the previous years 2015 and 2016 more than 500 athletes competed. Toma Nikiforov celebrates fourth gold in Visé with home crowd

Who else than Toma Nikiforov became the winner again at the international Belgian Adidas Judo Open in Visé. Nikiforov, the bronze medallist at the World Open Championships defended his title successfully after defeating Karl-Richard Frey in the final U100kg on Sunday.
