Korean World Champion judo Gwak Dong Han won bronze at the Olympic Games and was World Champion in 2015 in Astana. He won world bronze in 2017 in Budapest. Gwak won the Universiade in Kazan (Student World Championships) in 2013. He won the Grand Prix in Jeju three times (2013-2015). Three medals at the Paris Grand Slam including gold in 2019. He won bronze at the Grand Slam in Paris in 2017. He took a silver medal at the IJF Masters in St. Petersburg in 2017 and silver in 2019 Abu Dhabi GS.

But since the olympic champion stepped back from the tatami, this weight category has experienced a lot of changes. Spain’s Nikoloz Sherazadishvili wins back-to-back Grand Slams

Former world champion Nikoloz Sherazadishvili (ESP) defeated Gwak Donghan (KOR) to win his second Grand Slam this month. Olympic bronze medallist Gwak, who won their only previous meeting on home soil in Jeju in 2015, was appearing in his second Grand Slam final of the season having won gold in Paris in February. Former world champion Gwak Donghan (KOR) was the star performer in the U90kg category as he concluded an impressive display with a win over World Judo Masters bronze medallist Islam Bozbayev (KAZ) in the final. Olympic bronze medallist and 2015 world champion Gwak recorded his second Grand Slam triumph by throwing his Kazakh opponent with a seoi-otoshi and a uchi-mata as he scored a waza-ari each time.
