Kosovo judoka Akil Gjakova became European Champion in 2021 as first Kosovan man ever. He won the Grand Prix in Zagreb in 2018 and Grand Slam of Paris as first male athlete of Kosovo. Gjakova became European Cadet Champion U18 in 2013. He won silver at the Grand Prix in Tunis in 2018. He took a silver medal at European U23 Championships in 2017 held in Podgorica. Akil became U23 European Champion in Gyor in 2018. He took a silver medal at the Grand Prix in The Hague in 2018 and won the gold at the Grand Prix in Budapest in the 2019.
