Dutch judoka Sanne Vermeer became World Junior Champion in 2018 in Nassau, Bahamas after she won silver in 2017 in Zagreb. In 2015 she won the cadet world title in Sarajevo. Vermeer won the European Junior title in 2016 in Malaga and in 2017 in Maribor. In 2017 she won gold at the European Open in Prague in 2017 and bronze at the Grand Prix The Hague. She took bronze at the Grand Prix in Tel Aviv and Zagreb in 2019 and the gold medal in Tbilisi. She captured bronze at the European Games in Minsk

Olympic champion Tina Trstenjak of Slovenia won her first IJF gold medal since January 2018 as she thwarted Paris Grand Slam bronze medallist Nami Nabekura (JPN) in golden score of the Grand Prix in Zagreb.
