Dutch judoka Sanne Vermeer became World Junior Champion in 2018 in Nassau, Bahamas after she won silver in 2017 in Zagreb. In 2015 she won the cadet world title in Sarajevo. Vermeer won the European Junior title in 2016 in Malaga and in 2017 in Maribor. In 2017 she won gold at the European Open in Prague in 2017 and bronze at the Grand Prix The Hague. She took bronze at the Grand Prix in Tel Aviv in 2019 and the gold medal in Tbilisi. She captured bronze at the European Games in Minsk

Junior World Championships gold medallist Sanne Vermeer of the Netherlands earned her first senior IJF gold medal with a win over teammate and Dutch Marrakech Grand Prix bronze medallist Geke Van Den Berg (NED). Vermeer opened the scoring with a waza-ari and held down her international colleague for 10 seconds to wrap up gold in just 42 seconds. Read more

Italian Maria Centracchio won her first IJF World Judo Tour gold medal at the expense of Inbal Shemesh of Israel in the first final of the Grand Prix in Tel Aviv U63kg. World number 59 Centracchio opened her IJF World Judo Tour medal account (silver) in Uzbekistan in November and imposed herself in Tel Aviv for another first in her career which looks set to take off in 2019.
