Dutch judoka Jesper Smink captured bronze at the Grand Prix The Hague in 2017 and 2018. He won a bronze medal at the European Cup in Belgrade in 2016. He took bronze at the 2015 Dutch Championships. Dutch champion U15yrs fighting U50kg. He took bronze at the Junior European Championships in 2017 in Maribor. With the Dutch team he won silver at the World Junior Mixed Team Championships in Zagreb in 2017. He captured bronze at the Grand Prix in Tel Aviv and Düsseldorfs Grand Slam in 2019.

Axel Clerget brings France first gold in Israel

Frenchman and World Championships bronze medallist Axel Clerget clinched his second Grand Prix title as he defeated Nicholas Mungai of Italy in the U90kg final. The Frenchman submitted his rival with a ude-garami to provide his country with their best result in Israel and will now look forward to his home event, the Paris Grand Slam, in two weeks time. Former world champion Gwak Donghan of Korea helped to send his country to second place in the medal table by outfighting Ekaterinburg Grand Slam bronze medallist Gantulga Altanbagana (MGL). Olympic bronze medallist Gwak was the favourite against the 2017 Antalya Grand Prix winner from Mongolia and lived up to his billing as he forced Gantulga to make three infringements in the final. World number one Kukolj back to form with maiden Grand Prix gold medal

World number one and European champion Aleksandar Kukolj (SRB) was back among the medallists for the first time since June as he went unbeaten to win the U90kg title which represented his first Grand Prix win.
