Guusje Steenhuis won silver at the World Championships in Baku in 2018. She took gold at the Grand Slam in Baku in 2017 and she took gold at the Grand Prix The Hague in 2017. She won the GS of AbuDhabi in 2016 and Baku in 2015 and 2016 and took gold at the Grand Slam in Tyumen and silver in Tokyo 2015. Steenhuis won European Games bronze in 2015, silver in 2016 and 2017. Steenhuis won bronze at the Grand Slam in Paris and silver in Tokyo in 2017. She took bronze at the IJF Masters 2017.

Top seed Guusje Steenhuis of the Netherlands earned a career-best silver medal at the World Championships in Baku and must now follow up with a second Grand Slam gold medal in Abu Dhabi. Steenhuis is an expert at Grand Slam level. She won this tournament in 2016. Shori Hamada gives herself the best birthday gift ever

On her 28th birthday Shori Hamada (JPN) became the new world champion for women U78kg in Baku. Again Japan for gold and a great disappointment for the Dutch Guusje Steenhuis and the Netherlands that lost eight World Championships finals in a row since the last successful title for Verkerk in 2009 in Rotterdam. After a long final of nine minutes Shori Hamada won the world title after three penalties for Guusje Steenhuis. Read more

Shocker results U78kg and two Dutch in the semi finals

Two shocker results in the women’s category U78kg at the 2018 World Championships in Baku. French multiple world and Olympic medallist Audrey Tcheumeo is out of the tournament. She lost to Aleksandra Babintseva (RUS).
