Abdelrahman Mohamed defeated compatriot and defending champion Mohamed Abdelaal to earn the men's under-81 kilogram title at the African Judo Championships in Madagascar. South Africa’s lightweight Geronay Whitebooi retained her African Judo Championships title on the opening day of competition in Madagascar. Whitebooi was crowned as the continental champion last year in front of a home crowd in Cape Town. Five different nations took an African title.
