Russian Olympians overall satisfied about practise in Madrid

This weekend the Russian team had a good practise in Madrid. A usual stepping stone, same like in 2012 when the Russian also collected a few gold medals. In their preparation to the Rio Olympic Games Russia took five gold medals, four of them from likely Olympians Irina Dolgova, Ksenia Chibisova, Renat Saidov and Olympic champion Tagir Khaibulaev. Russians show their candidacy for Olympic Games in Madrid

Portugal won a great gold medal as Anri Egutidze defeated Matthias Casse of Belgium in the final. Casse started the draw but injured himself. Due to a hand injury he had to withdraw halfway the match and Egutidze won the gold. It wasn’t the excpected final as both youngsters did a great job by defeating world top athletes. Read more

France leads the tango at European Open in Madrid

At the European Cup in Madrid in France, Russia and Germany were the best nations at day one. Irina Dolgova was the expected winner in the women’s lightweight division U48kg. The Russian number four of the World Ranking is a potential Olympic medallist in good shape and she was the highest ranked judoka in the whole tournament. Read more

Russian team expected to be announced after IJF confirmation

Almost traditional the Russian team is testing a few athletes at the European Open in Madrid. In 2012 the Russian team sent the full 2012 Olympic men’s team to Madrid: Galstyan, Mogushkov, Nifontov, Denisov, Khaibulaev and Mikhailin. Only Isaev didn’t fight. This year we may see the 2016 Olympic team. Both the men and women have strong names. Read more
