At the Grand Prix in Tashkent Jeong Bo-Kyeong of Korea was opposed to Bishrelt Khorloodoi (MGL) for the category win U52kg. With three bronze medals won this season at the Grand Prix of Hohhot and Marrakech and at the Baku Grand Slam, Gefen Primo (ISR) was the favorite of the day in women's U52kg. She entered the final after her victories against Jeong Bo-Kyeong (KOR) in the semifinal but more significantly against London Olympic Champion, Sarah Menezes (BRA), in her preliminary round. in the final she was opposed to the 2019 Pan-american silver medallist angelica Delgado (USA). World champion and 2018 Hohhot Grand Prix winner Abe Uta (JPN) defeated world number eight Evelyne Tschopp (SUI) with a textbook uchi-mata to win her third Grand Prix title. The 18-year-old, who was making her first start of the season, scored ippon with her favoured technique after 90 seconds to extend her winning streak to 37 contests on the IJF World Judo Tour. French world number one Amandine Buchard (FRA) won U52kg gold in Azerbaijan as former world champion Shishime Ai (JPN) picked up a knee injury during their final and could no longer continue.
