Korean judoka An Chang-Rim won bronze at the 2015 and 2017 World Championships. An was World Junior Champion in 2014 in Miami. He won the Paris Grand Slam in 2016 and became World #1. In 2015 he added the Universiade U66kg and won the Grand Slam Abu Dhabi. An was born in Japan, his parents live in Kyoto. He won silver at the Grand Slam in Paris in 2017, Grand Prix in Antalya and bronze at the World Masters in Guangzhou. in 2019 he won gold in Antalya. IJF World Ranking Leader U66kg in 2018.

The Korean star is too injured ad had to take the difficult decision to withdraw from the championships starting from 25 August. World champion An Changrim of Korea reigned in Antalya as he beat Olympic silver medallist Rustam Orujov (AZE) in a pulsating U73kg final. Korean judoka An Chang-Rim is the current World Champion from Baku. He won world bronze at the 2015 and 2017 World Championships and was World Junior Champion in 2014. At the Grand Prix of Antalya he makes his return and first actions in the IJF World Tour in 2019. Since his world title in September last year he appeared only at the Masters in Guangzhou where he picked up a bronze medal in his category U73kg. Read more

Prize money for judo IJF Ranking leaders

The IJF have announced that it will award a prize money bonus for 2018 year-end leaders of the World Ranking List. The IJF will award a bonus prize money pot of $220,000 with the male and female judoka with the most ranking points for the calendar year each scooping $50,000 apiece. Read more
