Nemanja Majdov became World Champion U90kg in Budapest in 2017 and took bronze in 2019 after a period of injuries. He lives in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but since 2013 for Serbia. He won the European Junior title in 2014 in Bucharest and in 2016 in Malaga. He took a silver medal at the 2018 Euros. Majdov won EC Cadet silver in 2013. He is younger brother of Stefan Majdov. He clinched the gold medal at the Grand Prix in Marrakech and Grand Slam Baku in 2019 among many other medals.

Junior World Championships gold medallist Lasha Bekauri of Georgia starred on the final day of the IJF season as he defeated world number one Nikoloz Sherazadishvili (ESP) in golden score. Georgian-born Spaniard Sherazadishvili appeared to be shaping up for sutemi-waza and lost his balance while Bekauri had control and the 19-year-old directed his opponent backwards for ippon and a remarkable victory. At the Grand Slam of Brasilia former world champion Nikoloz Sherazadishvili of Spain defeated former world silver medallist Ivan Felipe Silva Morales of Cuba in a rematch of the 2018 Worlds final. The Spaniard extended his winning record over the Cuban to 3-1 with a trademark uchi-mata which was worth a waza-ari score which separated the rivals after four minutes of compelling action. Dutchman Noel van ‘t End won his first world title after a gruelling day which culminated with a narrow triumph over Osaka Grand Slam winner Mukai Shoichiro of Japan in his sixth contest of the day. World number 10 Van ‘t End, who lost to Mukai in the Osaka Grand Slam final last year, lit up the U90kg category all day long and recorded the biggest win of his career with a mesmerising o-soto ko-soto combination for a waza-ari score with 27 seconds left.
