Nami Nabekura took the gold medal at the Grand Prix in Zagreb in 2017 and 2018. She became World Junior champion in 2015. In 2014 she fought the World Championships final. She won the World Junior Team Championships in 2014 and 2015 as only female junior. Nabekura won bronze at the GP Düsseldorf and silver at the GS Tokyo in 2017 and in Osaka in 2018 and silver at the Masters in 2017 and 2018. She took silver at the Grand Slam in Paris in 2020. Nami won the IJF World Masters in 2019 in Qingdao.

Paris Grand Slam bronze medallist Nabekura Nami (JPN) defeated world champion Clarisse Agbegnenou (FRA) for the first time in a monumental victory to prise away the French superstar’s Masters crown. Nabekura showed her stamina to score on Agbegnenou after five minutes of additional time as the Japanese went under the world number one who marginally went over on her side for a waza-ari score. Olympic champion Tina Trstenjak of Slovenia won her first IJF gold medal since January 2018 as she thwarted Paris Grand Slam bronze medallist Nami Nabekura (JPN) in golden score of the Grand Prix in Zagreb. World champion Clarisse Agbegnenou (FRA) defeated Osaka Grand Slam silver medallist Nabekura Nami (JPN) to win her first Masters title in the last contest on day one of the season-ending competition in China. Nabekura put up a credible effort as she forced the contest into golden score before failing with an ambitious sumi-gaeshi as Agbegnenou landed on top and applied a pin for 20 seconds and ippon.
