Italian judoka Manuel Lombardo opened 2019 with a victory at the Grand Prix in Tel Aviv. He became European Cadet Champion U18 in 2015. He won silver at the EYOF in Tbilisi. He won bronze at the Junior European Championships in 2016 in Malaga. He took a bronze medal at the European Cup in Dubrovnik in 2017. In 2017 he won the Junior European Cups in Lignano and La Coruna. He captured a bronze medal at the European Open in Oberwart in 2018.

Junior World Championships gold medallist Manuel Lombardo from Italy stepped up to deliver the finest performance of his young career on the senior stage as he brushed aside Budapest Grand Prix bronze medallist Bogdan Iadov (UKR) in the -66kg final. In an unlikely final, which pitted two first-time finalists against each other, the Italian threw with a modified kata-guruma for a waza-ari score with 19 seconds left on the clock. Read more

What an amazing second day at the Junior World Championships in Naussau, Bahamas. Japan claimed two gold medals, for for the women U52kg and U57kg. Manuel Lombardo of Italy gave his year tremendous year glance with gold U66kg and Bilal Ciloglu had an amazing last minute with an incredible comeback.
