Tiago Camilo is 2000 Olympic finallist and 2008 Olympic bronze medallist. He won the 2007 World title in Rio. The only man who won the Pan American Games three times, 2007, 2011 and 2015. He was 1998 junior World Champion and is qualifying for this 4th Olympic Games.

Chair for IJF athlete commission still an option for Teddy Riner

French star Teddy Riner could retain his position as head of the Athletes' Commission after the International Judo Federation (IJF) selected him for a role on the body. Riner, who won his ninth world title during the event here and stretched his winning run to 134 matches, was one of four athletes hand-picked for a position on the Commission by the IJF. Read more

For many people, the Koreans are the most mysterious at these Olympic Games in Rio. They have been hiding, rarely participating in training camps. Current World Champion Gwak Dong Han reached the world number one position in September 2015 after taking the world title. Gwak won the Universiade in Kazan (Student World Championships) in 2013 and the Grand Prix Jeju three times (2013-2015). He also won bronze at the Grand Slam Paris in 2016. The Brazilian Judo Federation has unveiled the team for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Most of the team was known, but some decisions had to be taken in regard to the categories for men U60kg, U100kg and +100kg. In the men’s lightweights Felipe Kitadai was chosen over Eric Takabatake. Rustam Orujov of Azerbaijan is back at the number one position in the IJF World Ranking after his European title U73kg. It’s the only change after the continental championships of the highest seeds.
