Judoka Elmar Gasimov won silver at the Rio Olympic Games in 2016. He won world bronze in 2017 in Budapest. Gasimov was #1 at the IJF World Ranking with victories in Tyumen (2014) and Tbilisi and Samsun in 2015. He won 22 World level medals. Elmar won the World Masters in 2016 in Guadalajara. Gasimov won 3 European medals. He won silver at the Grand Slam in Baku in 2017. In 2018 he won the Euro Open in Minsk and Grand Prix in Tashkent. He clinched silver at the Grand Slam in Düsseldorf in 2020. He secured a bronze medal at the Grand Slam in Antalya in 2022.
