Building on her performance at the 2019 World Masters, during which she won gold, Dutch Tessie Savelkouls entered the final against the 2018 European Champion, long injured, but back at the highest level, Romane Dicko (FRA). Beatriz Souza wins all-Brazilian final to reset race for Tokyo 2020
Two Brazilians heavyweights in the final of the Grand Slam in Brasilia. The World number eight Beatriz Souza beat world silver medallist Maria Suelen Altheman (BRA) for the first time on the IJF stage to claim her first Grand Slam gold medal. The 21-year-old defeated world number three Altheman, 31, after throwing for a waza-ari score and pinning down her teammate with a kesa-gatame. Read more

Lots of surprises U90kg at day three in Minsk
What an amazing battle field in the category U90kg where World Champion Nikoloz Sherazadishvili lost too early against Swiss Ciril Grossklaus. It was just one of those surprises. 2017 European Champion Aleksandar Kukolj lost to Mikail Ozerler, the world’s runner up of 2017 who reached the final. Julia Tolofua fights back tears after shock win
French outsider Julia Tolofua was the surprise heavyweight winner on the last day in Tbilisi as the little-known +78kg fighter defeated Junior World Championships silver medallist Beatriz Souza (BRA) in the final. In her first IJF final Tolofua took the contest to the world number nine who was thrown with an o-soto-gari for a waza-ari score and that was the only time the scoreboard was summoned. Read more
