Marko Bubanja back with gold for Austria

Marko Bubanja is happy to be back. After a short switch to Montenegro he came back last year in Austria and on Sunday he won his first ever World Cup event. In his weight category U90kg the 23-year old defeated Ourouzmag Magkeyev of France. Russia’s Zankishiev breaks into the world’s top eight

World number eight Kazbek Zankishiev (RUS) became a two-time Grand Prix winner on the last day of The Hague Grand Prix as he saw off surprise finalist Hohhot Grand Prix bronze medallist Joakim Dvarby (SWE). The Russian is a notorious slow starter and both his scores in the final came in the last 45 seconds as Dvarby more than held his own up to that point. An osoto-gari started the scoring and was worth a waza-ari before a sode-tsurikomi-goshi added a second waza-ari and Zankishiev was awarded the win after four minutes. Read more

Brazilian juniors win ten gold medals at European Cup Coimbra

At the first European Cup of the season the Brazilian juniors impressed with ten gold medals in Coimbra. The Portuguese judo city was traditionally the first host of this season and the Portuguese fans saw David Reis winning gold on Saturday and Jaime Santos on Sunday. Read more
