Judoka Svitlana Iaromka of the Ukraine is the most successful heavyweight. She won European Games bronze in 2015. She captured a silver medal at the 2017 European Championships in Warsaw. Iaromka won Grand Prix and Grand Slam and World Junior bronze in 2008. She won a silver medal at the 2015 World Military Games in Mungyeong. Bronze in Qingdao 2015 and Havana 2016. She won a bronze medal at the Grand Slam in Baku and Grand prix Tbilisi in 2017.

There was yet another miracle on Saturday at the European Championships in Warsaw. Maryna Slutskaya became the first woman ever to win the European title for her country, Belarus. In the women’s heavyweight of the Grand Prix in Tbilisi Maryna Slutskaya of Belarus won the gold medal. Slutskaya stopped the local Elene Kebadze of host nation Georgia on her way to the final. The public strongly supported her though, after her first two wins on ne-waza (groundwork) during the preliminary rounds, especially against the top seed athlete of the day, Svitlana Iaromka (UKR).
