Triple Spanish champion Isabel Puche won silver at Grand Prix Rijeka in 2013, African Open in Casablanca in 2014 and Grand Prix in Jeju in 2014. She won the European Cups in Marbella and Malaga in 2010 and 2011 and took silver at the Euro Open in Warsaw in 2016. Puche won silver at the European Cup in Malaga in 2016 and bronze in 2018. She won bronze at the European Open in Oberwart and Casablanca in 2017. She took a bronze medal at the European Open in Lisbon and Madrid in 2018.

Walide Khyar warms up with gold at European Cup Malaga

Current European Champion Walide Khyar was a logical winner of the European Cup in Malaga in the category U66kg, although one category higher than his usual weight. In Malaga he defeated Puerto Rican Augusto Miranda. Khyar (21) never competed at a senior European Cup, but today was an exception on his way back, his first event after the Olympic Games. Read more

Arleta Podolak wins first World Cup for Poland

For the first time since 14 years Poland welcomed a home winner of its own European Open in Warsaw. Arleta Podolak won the category U57kg. Barbara Wojcicka was the last female Polish winner in 2002. In the past Poland had a few good women in this light middleweight category. Maria Gontowicz-Szalas, Aneta Przybysz, Beáta Kucharzewska and Marzena Wegrzyn were the previous winners in the ninetees, but Podolak is the first of the century winning this weight class. Read more

World champion Clarisse Agbegnenou (FRA) was untouchable yet again on the IJF World Judo Tour as she dismissed Casablanca African Open silver medallist Isabel Puche (ESP) to top the podium in Jeju.
