Russian judoka David Babayan became European Cadet Champion in 2017 in Kaunas. Babayan captured a silver medal at the Cadet World Championships in 2017 in Santiago de Chile. He won the European Cup Cadets Follonica, Tula, Berlin and Bielsko Biala in 2017. With the Russian he won the Cadet world team title in 2017 in Chile. In 2019 he took the gold at the Junior European Cup in St. Petersburg and Leibnitz. David Babayan (RUS) was number 1 of the IJF World Ranking for cadets O90kg in 2017.

Leibnitz delivers serious judo practise for world juniors

The Austrian judoka can still lean on the current experienced generation, but for the future there’s barely any talent. For the second time in a row Austria didn’t take any medal at its own Junior European Cup in Leibnitz. Obviously this is one of the top events in the European Junior Tour and with 581 athletes from 34 nations, it’s not so easy to gain a few medals. Read more
