This weekend the Grand Slam of Tyumen will take place. Last year strong teams of Japan and Brazil both claimed five titles. In this edition more than 300 athletes are ready to gain the Olympic qualification points and 154,000 dollar of prize money. Athletes from 55 nations have registered so far. Read more

Kim Polling rules as number one of Tyumen and the world

World number one Kim Polling was pushed all the way in Tyumen as she had showed grit and industry to win U70kg gold. European champion Polling, who earned bronze in Rio last year, defeated two-time Pan American champion Kelita Zupancic of Canada with a waza-ari from a trademark ura-nage setting her on her way before her opponent scored a yuko with an ouchi-gari. Nice repetion for a little over six weeks from now in Chelyabinsk for the world championships. Read more

Brazilian World number two Rafael Silva was too strong and too experienced for two-time Japanese Junior world champion Ojitani Takeshi in the +100kg final. Ojitani has defeated judoka such as Dusseldorf Grand Prix winner Kamikawa Daiki in domestic competition, lost out on shido penalties to Olympic bronze medallist Rafael Silva who is ready for battle in Chelyabinsk with the intention of going one better than his 2013 silver medal. European silver medallist Elmar Gasimov of Azerbaijan topped the U100kg medal podium with a win against Canadian Junior world champion Kyle Reyes. Tokyo Grand Slam silver medallist Reyes just 20 lost out on shido penalties as Gasimov earned a career-best result in Tyumen. Read more
