Russia takes record junior gold medals in Porec

The Russian men dominated the first two days of the Junior European Championships with four gold medals, a 100% score. Russia’s golden boys were Khetag Basaev U60kg, Kazbek Naguchev U66kg, Armen Agaian U73kg and David Karapetyan U81kg, four gold medals in a row. It was the first time ever Russian men were able to captured four European Junior titles. In 2018 and 2019 Russia had no male champions. Read more


Tough draw for European Juniors in Porec

This week the more than 700 of the best young judoka are present in Croatia’s coast city Poreč for two European Championships in one week. Unique and forced but corona gave Porec the opportunity to organise the Junior Europeans followed by the Championships for senior talent U23 years. EJU convinced about continuation of European Judo Championships despite Covid-19 threats

The European Judo Union is dedicated to make this year’s flagship event to a success. The European Championships will be held in Prague after it was postponed twice. EJU President Soloveychik wishes the athletes health to everyone and victories at the European Championships. However how fair will the Championships as an increasing number of nations is going into a lockdown. Despite the Budapest Grand Slam, Czech Republic is currently one of the countries where the increase is huge with 166,000 new cases over the last 14 days. Read more
