Two medals for Ireland in one weekend at the inaugural Tel Aviv Grand Prix. A unique and amazing performance for the small judo country. Both Megan and Ben Fletcher medalled in a unique weekend. At almost 30 years old Megan Fletcher, now of Ireland, has numerous titles to her name, from Commonwealth Champion to British Champion, but that step up to the IJF Tour rostrum has been a long time coming, requiring persistence no-one could have expected. Or Sasson sets Israel on fire with home victory

Olympic bronze medallist Or Sasson ended the historic first IJF event in Israel on a high for the hosts as the heavyweight maestro won the last final of the competition. Sasson defeated The Hague Grand Prix winner Yakiv Khammo (UKR) in golden score to win Israel’s fourth Grand Prix gold medal and to make sure his country finished out of sight at the top of the medal table. Alexandre Iddir makes it two for France

Frenchman Alexandre Iddir won his second Grand Prix gold medal as he bested Antalya Grand Prix bronze medallist Benjamin Fletcher (IRL) in the U100kg final. Iddir scored a waza-ari from te-waza and firmly protected his advantage to provide France with their second gold medal in Tel Aviv. Heavyweight Iryna Kindzerska powers to gold in Tel Aviv

Former world bronze medallist Iryna Kindzerska of Azerbaijan overpowered Yelyzaveta Kalanina (UKR) on the ground for heavyweight gold in Tel Aviv. Kindzerska trapped her younger Ukrainian rival in osaekomi for 20 seconds and ippon to win Azerbaijan’s first gold medal in Israel. Read more
