Canada have a luxury position having two Olympic medal candidates U57kg in Christa Deguchi and Jessica Klimkait. Last year Deguchi was crowned as the first ever World Champion for Canada. The cat lover lives in Japan and shows us her social media outings with her cats on Instagram. Foremost she is waiting until a new life can start as the number one medal candidate for gold in Tokyo. Aussie Nathan Katz is the number 48 of the World Ranking. The former Oceania Champion took a fifth place at the Grand Prix in Montreal, but he is the first choice for his continent. With his brother Josh he can train at home in the time of COVID-19. Also Nathan has to wait for another year and be patient. For sure his parents can share some experiences of their own judo careers. Teddy Riner defeats Harasawa in tight final in Montreal

That was a close call for Teddy Riner who captured the gold medal at the Grand Prix in Montreal in a repeat of the 2016 Olympic final. This one though was attractive. Hisayoshi Harasawa determined the pace of the contest from the start. It was actually Riner who had to adjust to the pace, which is not a surprise after a long period without that competition feeling. Read more
