Dutch judoka Joanne Van Lieshout captured the Junior world title in 2021 and 2022. She claimed the European U23 title in 2020 in Porec and bronze medal at Junior level in one week, as well as in 2021. Joanne took gold at the EYOF in Baku in 2019. She was Dutch national champion in various age categories U15, U18 and U21. Both her parents were judoka. Joanne won European Cadet bronze in 2018 in Sarajevo and silver with the team in 2018 and bronze in 2019. She bagged a silver medal at the European Open in Zagreb in 2021. She started 2022 well with a victory at the Grand Prix of Portugal.
