Paralympic judoka Willans Araujo Silva of Brazil took the silver medal at the Paralympic Games in Rio in 2016. He became IBSA World Champion in Baku in 2022. In 2015 he won bronze at the IBSA World Games in Seoul. He won the Visual Impaired Grand Prix in Birmingham in 2016 and gold at the VI German Open in Heidelberg in 2016. He was first seeded at the Paralympic Games in Rio. He claimed a gold medal at the IBSA Grand Prix in Antalya in 2022. He took a gold medal at the IBSA Grand Prix in Nur-Sultan in 2022. He was victorious at the IBSA Pan Am Championships in Edmonton in 2023.
