Bulgarian judoka Denislav Ivanov became Cadet World Champion in Sarajevo in 2015. He became European Junior champion in 2017 in Maribor. He had already won the European Cadet title U18 in 2015 in Sofia. In 2016 he won the European Cup U21 in Prague and Ploiesti. He won gold at the Balkan Championships in 2015 in Sofia.

Hidayat Heydarov prolongs European Junior title after Azeri final

The junior team of Azerbaijan claimed six medals on the first day of the European Championships in Maribor. Highlights were the gold medals for Hidayat Heydarov U73kg and Karamat Huseynov U60kg. Moldova books progress with building new junior team in Ploiesti

The junior judo team of Moldova is on the right track building a new team. The majority of the seniors left to qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio and switched to the United Arab Emirates. Sergiu Toma was the successful example of the switch wining bronze U81kg but Moldova needed to build up a team from the start. At the European Cup for Juniors in Ploiesti the team is leading the medal table with two gold medals. Mihail Doncila won gold for men U55kg and Denis Vieru took gold U66kg. Read more

Junior European Cup Prague good rehearsal for Europeans

The Juniors of Turkey proved to be among the best in their age category. At the Junior European Cup in Berlin, the Turkish women captured 7 medals, Bilal Ciloglu added a gold medal on Saturday in his category U66kg. Ilayda Seyis (U57kg) and heavyweight Sebiie Akbulut won the two women’s gold medals. Read more

Bulgaria is lyric about the first ever World Champion in history, Denislav Ivanov claimed the World title for Cadets in Sarajevo. The Cadet European champion Denislav Ivanov blew away the opposition on day one to win gold for Bulgaria. In the past only Georghi Petrov was in a World Championships (seniors) final in 1985. Perhaps Ivanov can step into the footlight of the nation that delivered so many heroic judoka. Read more

Japan misses the golden boat at Cadet Worlds opening day

Japan have always won a World Cadet title at the opening day of the previous three World Cadet Championships, but not in the 2015 edition in Sarajevo. Only Japanese Riko Igarashi is still in the race for a bronze medal in the U44kg category. Read more
