Malonga seals France’s third gold medal in as many days
Madeleine Malonga is the new World Champion U78kg. In the Budokan in Tokyo the French woman defeated defending world champion Hamada Shori of Japan who conceded her world crown to Malonga. The French team now captured three gold medal. Malonga followed the success of her teammates Clarisse Agbegnenou (U63kg) and Marie Eve Gahie (U70kg) who won gold on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. Read more

Hamada Shori dominates U78kg category in Montreal
There was no doubt that the reigning World Champion, Hamada Shori, was the undisputed favorite in the category. She won all her preliminary rounds by ippon, successively defeating Sophie Berger (BEL), Teresa Zenker (GER) and Vanessa Chala (ECU). In the final she was opposed to Russian Aleksandra Babintseva, bronze medalist of the last world championships. Read more

German judoka Luise Malzahn of Germany shocked teammate and Antalya Grand Prix winner Anna Maria Wagner as she earned her second Grand Slam title against her younger, more fancied teammate. Germany’s 21-time Grand Prix medallist recorded her first international win over Wagner in comprehensive fashion with a harai-makikomi and a o-uchi-gari stunning the world number eight who now has a battle on her hands to be picked for Tokyo 2020.
