Sumiya Dorjsuren from Mongolia won the World title in 2017 after a dissapointment with Olympic silver in Rio 2016. She won bronze at the World Championships in 2018 in Baku and in 2015 in Astana. Gold in Tbilisi, Qingdao and Tokyo in 2015 and she won IJF World Masters three times in a row including 2016. Dorjsuren won the Grand Slam of Abu Dhabi in 2017 in a revenge match against Silva. She took gold at the IJF Masters in St. Petersburg in 2017. She won more than 30 World Cup medals.

The World Championships final for women U57kg was a surprise between Nekoda Smythe Davis of Great Britain and Tsukasa Yoshida of Japan. It was the first opportunity for a British woman to take the World title in 20 years. Her coach Kate Howey won the title in 1997. Read more
