Yeldos Smetov of Kazakhstan became 2024 Olympic Champion in Paris U60kg at the age of 31. He had already won Olympic silver in 2016 and bronze in 2021. Smetov was 2015 World Champion at home in Astana. He took bronze at the 2019 Worlds in Tokyo and 2022 Worlds in Tashkent. Smetov claimed the World Junior title in 2010 in Agadir. He won the first Olynpic title in Kazakh history.
