Judoka Chantal Wright is former Swiss champion in Cadets and Junior who competed for Great Britain, Switzerland and United States. She won also Swiss medals at Senior level, but switched to the USA in 2014. She won silver at the African Open Casablanca in 2016 and bronze at the Pan Am Open in Santiago. The Wright siblings: Chantal (-70kg), Kyle (-81kg) and Liam (-73kg), all three participated in this Grand Slam Ekaterinburg in 2019 for the USA. She works full time as an intensive care unit nurse

It's not easy to find the pace to deliver each event over and over again. American judoka Chantal Wright is the athlete with most Olympic qualification events without reaching the quarter finals. In 13 World Cups she couldn’t reach the last eight, meaning quarter final or repechage match. Taciana Cesar, Aisha Gurbanli and Alexandru Raicu were also a bit unlucky in their first rounds. Big variety of winning nations at African Open Casablanca

Fourteen different winning nations this weekend at the African Open in Casablanca. On Sunday two gold medals for the African nations. Host nation Morocco won the gold medal for women U70kg, Assmaa Niang booked her third World Cup victory ever. In Casablanca she defeated Chantal Wright of the USA in a pool with just five women.
