Chinese judoka Xunzhao Cheng was the surprise of the Olympic Games U90kg defeating three European top favourites and winning Olympic bronze in 2016 in Rio. He won the Grand Prix in Qingdao in 2012 U90kg which was one of his career highlights. The same year he won the East Asian Games. In 2016 he won silver at the Grand Prix in Almaty and in 2014 silver in Ulaanbaatar. In 2017 he won the Grand Slam in Paris as first Chinese man.

Felipe Sanchez Llanes is a Spanish judo coach with more than 15 years experience. He was coaching the team University of Oviedo for ten years, and worked as a performance coach with high performance athletes in judo and other sports too. The last years he was working as assistant coach in Spanish National Sambo Team. He has a Master Degree in Sports Sciences by Spanish Olympic Committee, but is now working for the Chinese Olympic Committee as well as judo coach to support Shanghai Elite Sports. Read more

China’s Cheng Xunzhao may have won bronze at the Rio 2016 Olympics, but he left Brazil as one of its biggest winners. The 26-year-old ippon-seoi-nage specialist was unseeded at the Games and took part with little in the way of expectations or fanfare from his country.
