Andrii Koleśnyk of the Ukraine won European U23 silver in 2015 in Bratislava. He won bronze at the Euro Open in Sofia in 2015. In 2009 he won EYOF silver in Tampere and European Junior bronze in 2012. He took a bronze medal at the European Open in Sofia in 2018. He took silver at the European Open in Rome in 2019. He clinched a bronze medal at the Grand Prix in Marrakech in 2019.

First Grand Prix success for Germany’s Heinle

World number 55 Sven Heinle (GER) was the last man standing in the men’s heavyweight category as he defeated Tashkent Grand Prix bronze medallist Yerassyl Kazhybayev (KAZ) in the last contest at the inaugural edition of the Marrakech Grand Prix. Heinle broke the deadlock with a waza-ari score and moved quickly to trap his Kazakh rival in osaekomi for his country’s second gold medal on day three. Read more


Russia and Germany add gold to medal victory
