Italian judoka Giuliano Loporchio captured a bronze medal at the Grand Prix in Zagreb in 2017. He won a bronze medal at the European U23 Championships in 2013. In 2016 he took bronze at the European Open in Prague. In 2013 he had won silver at the European Open in Glasgow and he won the European Open in Tallinn in 2016 U100kg. He won various Italian medals U90kg and U100kg and took titles in all age categories.

Rosalba Forciniti grabs Italian title after gap of eight years

Remarkable results at the Italian Championships in Ostia this weekend. Rosalba Forciniti captured the title for women U52kg. Forciniti recently found the pleasure in judo and after getting two children she started training again in January. She competed last weekend in Ostia and won the title. The U100kg weight category at the Grand Prix in Zagreb proposed a particularly high level of top class judoka, but surprisingly the top three athletes of the category, Elkhan Mammadov (AZE), Elmar Gasimov (AZE) and Varlam Liparteliani (GEO) were eliminated during the preliminary rounds opening the road to less well ranked athletes to reach the final, which opposed the explosive Jorge Fonseca (POR) and Cirjenics Miklos of Hungary. The two favourite Romanian athletes for the European Open in Bucharest met the expectations taking two gold medals. Other interesting topics were the return of Austrian Bernadett Graf who started in the U70kg category and was immediately successful with gold and a victory against European Champion Audrey Tcheumeo. Aliaksandr Vakhaviak spoils Estonian home victory in Tallinn

Estonian judoka Juhan Mettis was the favourite to take the gold in his category +100kg at the European Open in Tallinn but had to be satisfied with silver in the last match of the event. In the final Aliaksandr Vakhaviak of Belarus snatched the gold medal after three minutes by ippon after a mistake of Mettis. The Estonian won the African Open and booked good results at Pan American Opens in March. But just like in 2014 he finished with silver. Read more
