The Czech judo star was one of the favourites for the +100kg title at the comeback of judo in the occasion of the Grand Slam in Budapest this weekend. This is how the 2016 Olympic Champions were ranked one year before Games-time
It was not a huge surprise that Lukas Krpalek, Teddy Riner, Tina Trstenjak and Kayla Harrison were crowned as Olympic Champions. They already dominated their categories one year ahead of the Games in August 2015. Italian Fabio Basile though shocked the judo world with as fast rising star. He was nowhere in his new category U66kg as he came from U60kg, but marched in fast on his golden path to Rio. Read more

European Judo Championships in Prague in November
The European Judo Championships in Prague that was postponed from April to June is now again postponed and will be held from 8-10- November from Sunday until Tuesday. The European Judo Championships of 2021 were already given to Lisbon and The Czech Judo Federation and organisation were determined to organise it this year. All EJU scheduled until the end of July are cancelled, like tournaments, training camps, seminars and festival. Read more

Sagi Muki concludes successful 2019 as top earner
The IJF will continue its end-of-year tradition of awarding a prize money bonus to all 14 world number ones on the final IJF World Ranking List for 2019. The bonus, which was first introduced in 2016, will see the world number one’s in each of the 14 weight categories scoop a bonus of $10,000 per judoka. Read more
