    Lukas Krpalek became Olympic Champion in 2016 in Rio. Krpalek became World Champion in 2019 +100kg and 2014 fighting U100kg and double European Champion in 2013 and 2014 U100kg. He won the European senior title in 2018 in Tel Aviv. He took bronze at the European Championships in Warsaw in 2017. He was double Junior World Champion. Krpalek was 7th at the Olympic Games in London. He captured more than 30 World Cup medals including 13 victories. Coached by Petr Lacina.

    The Japanese delegation came to win a number of gold medals and to confirm their form and expectations. Harasawa Hisayoshi was definitely one of them. Harasawa who had come to Antalya to test himself in the framework of the upcoming Tokyo Games, knowing that he is the holder of team Japan’s spot in the men's heavy weight division. The string winner became Tamerlan Bashaev, much smaller than Harasawa and Bashaev used his fine tuned skills of adaptation to produce one of the most beautiful combinations of the day. Read more

    World Champion Lukas Krpalek celebrated a gold medal at his own tournament in Prague. Not a surprise for the powerhouse from Czech Republic. He felt obliged as he is always represented in the capital to fight. This time though the tournament was somewhat downgraded as the field was small and gave space to a new generation, although even former World silver medallist Annett Meszaros (HUN), now 33, competed among the youngsters.     World and Olympic Champion Lukas Krpalek tested positive for Covid-19. The Czech judo star was one of the favourites for the +100kg title at the comeback of judo in the occasion of the Grand Slam in Budapest this weekend. Before his departure he was tested according to the protocols and couldn’t travel to Budapest. Read more

    It was not a huge surprise that Lukas Krpalek, Teddy Riner, Tina Trstenjak and Kayla Harrison were crowned as Olympic Champions. They already dominated their categories one year ahead of the Games in August 2015. Italian Fabio Basile though shocked the judo world with as fast rising star. He was nowhere in his new category U66kg as he came from U60kg, but marched in fast on his golden path to Rio. Read more
