Victor Scvortov was born in Moldova. With his team he moved to United Arab Emirates where he was very successful. He won a World Championships medal as first judoka from the UAE in 2014. Scvortov won the Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi and Budapest in 2014 and started with silver in Havana in 2016 and bronze at the Grand Slam in Abu Dhabi. He captured silver at the Grand Prix The Hague in 2017.

Two gold medals for the Netherlands today at the Grand Prix in The Hague with an emotional gold for Juul Franssen who was absent for 13 months. Swedish new ace Tommy Macias hit the medal trail once again on the IJF World Judo Tour as he upstaged world number one and Rio 2016 Olympic silver medallist Rustam Orujov of Azerbaijan. 23-Year old Zagreb Grand Prix silver medallist Macias, showed that his silver medal in Croatia was a stepping stone and a sign of things to come as many pondered whether he could repeat that medal or it would be a one-off. Small but good field at first Grand Slam since Olympic Games

The fourth Grand Slam of the season is due in Abu Dhabi starting on Friday. 157 Judoka from 34 countries have been linked in the draw which resulted in some tasty matches. Despite the low amount of participants, some of the finest athletes can be seen in the capital of the UAE.
