Faicel Jaballah of Tunisia is multiple African Judo Champion. The Tunisian heavyweight won several international events such as Grand Slam in Baku and Grand Prix in Samsun. Coached by 2001 World Champion Anis Lounifi. He won the African Games title in 2011 and 2015 and African Champion in 2016. He won the African Open in Tunis in 2017.

Loic Pietri back in business at Grand Prix Almaty

At this week’s Grand Prix of Almaty some of the last points are for grab, but it won’t be easy for the 399 participants. The category U81kg is as usual the most competitive with 45 participants and includes the comeback of 2013 World Champion Loic Pietri. The Frenchman may face home boy Aziz Kalkamanuly or dare devil Frank de Wit in his first fight. Many competitors are in that same pool for those last points to secure qualification. Pietri won World silver in Astana last year, so he is still the favourite and nearly almost medals where he starts. Read more

Tunisia wins medal table at African Championships Egypt surprises

Host nation Tunisia showed its power in judo with five gold medals and 16 medals in total. The home crowd was satisfied with Saturday’s gold for Hela Ayari U52kg and Faicel Jaballah who captured the double in this tournament winning both plus and Open category. Sensational were the four gold medals for the Egyptian men, at the second and last individual day Egypt added another two titles, for the first time since 2009 four different Egyptian judoka won a gold medal at the African Championships. With seven medals in the men’s division Egypt can be confident for the Olympic Games as the form is better than ever before. Read more

The plus category at the African Championships in Tunisia delivered the expected winners and both for the host nation Tunisia. Faicel Jaballah had won two African Games and today he added his 7th African Championships title. This time against Mohammed Tayeb (ALG).
