Juul Franssen took gold at the Grand Prix The Hague in 2017 when she came back from a conflict with the federation of 13 months. She won the Grand Slam of Abu Dhabi in 2016. She won European Championships in three age categories U17 (2006), U20 (2008)and U23 (2012 and 2013), all U57. When Franssen stepped up to U63kg it gave her a boost with good results such as silver at the Grand Slam of Paris in 2015. She took bronze at the IJF Masters in St. Petersburg in 2017. Double national champion.

Nouchi Aimi of Japan won Russia’s Grand Slam in Efor the second time as the unseeded Japanese was the fighter of the day at U63kg. Dutch judoka Juul Franssen returned with avengement on Saturday as she won the hosts’ first gold medal at their new Grand Prix by defeating European Championships bronze medallist Alice Schlesinger (GBR) in the -63kg final.
