Aldi De Oliveira of Brazil won all four of his contests in Chile to capture Cadet World gold at the first attempt. The ne-waza level of De Oliveira surpassed his rivals and that was the difference in the final when he strung together a beautiful combination to defeat Maksud Ochilov (UZB). Cadet Pan American Championships winner De Oliveira threw his Asian opponent with a controlled tomoe-nage to setup the decisive juji-gatame from which Ochilov was forced to submit. Read more

Russian young men take 7 out of 8 gold medals in Follonica

The first European Cup for Cadets was hosted by Italy. The city of Follonica saw eight Russian youngsters take 50% of all gold medals and a total of 26 medals. The Italian home team had a hopeful results with 9 medals, all three colours. Hungary and Croatia both won two medals. Polish Nikola Szlachta won the first gold medal for her country this season. Azerbaijan was the winning nation at the first day of the Cadet European Championships in the Finnish city of Vantaa. Azerbaijan, always strong at the first day claimed two gold medals as only country, where seven nations took the gold. Rovshan Aliyev and Ahmad Yusifov won the two lightest boys categories.
