Russian judoka Marina Vorobeva took the Cadet World title in 2017 in Santiago de Chile. In 2019 she won gold at the Cadet European Cup in Tula and in Zagreb. Marina Vorobeva (RUS) was number 1 of the IJF World Ranking for cadets U40kg in 2017 and 2018. She took a bronze medal at the EYOF in Baku in 2019.

Eleven winning nations at the European Cup for Cadets in Zagreb last weekend. The most popular gold was for Ana Viktorija Puljiz of host nation Croatia when she celebrated her victory U48kg. The event though was overshadowed by an incident on Sunday where two judoka had a shocking low level fight. Marina Vorobeva of Russia struck first in Santiago as she defeated Cadet European Championships bronze medallist Ivana Nikolic (MNE) to be crowned Cadet World Champion for 2017.
