Koreans dominate Asian Open in Hong Kong with seven gold

Korea was the best nation at the Asian Open in Hong Kong of this weekend. Korea captured seven gold medals. Mongolia and Chinese Taipei both took two gold medals. Korea claimed three of the four men’s titles on Sunday. On Saturday though it was Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Russia that won gold. Jaba Papinashvili pips peers for Georgian victory

Georgian youngster Jaba Papinashvili sent his country’s flag to the rafters and his stock to an all-time high by winning the first male final at the World Junior Championships in Zagreb. Papinashvili had too much attacking threat for former Junior European Championships winner Natig Gurbanli (AZE) as he launched a series of committed movements that troubled the Azeri. Read more


Amazing weekend for Belgian juniors in Kaunas

It’s a long time ago that Belgium won the medal table of an international event. At the Junior European Cup in Kaunas the Belgians took five gold medals and didn’t lose any of the finals. In total eight winning nations but the Belgians where phenomenal which is a good sign for the follow up for their senior athletes. Belgium didn’t win any medal at the senior European Championships, but the junior today had a good effort in Lithuania. Not the strongest event, but it’s a good sign of the development. Read more
