Kayla Harrison dislocated her shoulder at the Grand Prix of Jeju. The American Olympic Champion got hurt in her first match against Lee Jeong-Yun of Korea, but it popped back in later. Harrison still fought the next matches and won against Lkhamdegd Purevjargal and defeated Olympic runner-up Gemma Gibbons in the semi final.

In between the break the medical team iced the shoulder. However she didn’t want to take too much risk for the final and cancelled her fight against Audrey Tcheumeo. Harrison really wants to fight next week in Tokyo and didn’t fight Tcheumeo in the U78kg final.

“I had to settle for silver today here in Jeju. I unfortunately had an injury after the first round that got slowly worse as the day went on and Big Jim felt it best to rest and save myself for the last big one of the year... Tokyo! Thank you to everyone for the support. As I travel the world during the holidays it makes me appreciate the great life I have and the many amazing people I have in it. So Happy belated Thanksgiving to all of my family, friends, and fans back home. I am thankful for all of you!”
