Russia demonstrates power with U23 team in Dubrovnik

Russia dominated the European Cup for Seniors in Dubrovnik. At this inaugural edition the Russians won 9 out of 14 titles, a great domination. The host Croatia was happy to take three gold medals. Barbara Matic is back U70kg. She won the tournament in the final against German lea Pueschel. On Saturday Andrea Bekic was able to win the gold U52kg, one day for her birthday and Andreja Dakovic won the category U63kg.
The Russian men were amazing with 6 gold medals, France was the only country to interfere in the category U90kg where Anthony Laignes won gold against Jesenko Cetic (SLO). The French won two silver and six bronze medals and took the third place in the medal table behind Croatia.
Italian Francesca Milani won the gold on Saturday U48kg. The Russian brought in a mixed team with lots of talent such as World Junior Champion Egor Mgdsyan, who was also Russian U23 champion this year. He won his category U66kg. Russian Savva Karakizidi won his fourth European Cup this season U60kg, this time against Croatian hope Bernard Azinovic. Another U23 Russian champion Arbi Khamkhoev won the category U23. Soon in November are the European U23 Championships in Bratislava, a nice warmup for some nations in Dubrovnik.

Andrea Bekic retires after injury blocks continuation in judo
Andrea Bekic of Croatia was 2007 European cadets champion, she won six European Cups and won medals at two Grand Prixs. The was one of the first of a new generation but she knows how hard it is to come back after picking up many injuries and announced to quit. Read more

Host city of Dubrovnik demands European Cup titles
Italian Francesca Milani was the only athlete who won the European Cup of Dubrovnik twice, in the two previous editions of this European Cup in this beautiful city in Dubrovnik Croatia celebrated six gold medals. For this edition the host nation is determined to add a few good titles as it nominated some of its top athletes. Read more

France dominates Belgrade, Lara Reimann shows off
The first day of the European Cup in Belgrade delivered three gold medals to France. German Lara Reimann showed her business card to her rivals for the World Junior Championships in October in Abu Dhabi. This European Open is the perfect preparation for this event and the European U23 Championships in Slovakia in November. The youngster won her first senior event. Read more

Korean men hit the jackpot in Gwangju's Universiade
At the third day of the Universiade in Gwangju, Korea hit the jackpot with two men’s victories for An and An in U66kg and U73kg. After a beautiful harvest of medals during the first two days of competition, team France, once again put one athlete into the final, Alexandre Mariac (FRA), who was not the most awaited athlete of the team. In final U66kg he faced AN Ba-Ul (KOR), who throughout the first round showed that he was the man to defeat today in Gwangju. Read more

Teenagers Tihea Topolovec and Bilal Ciloglu win in Sarajevo
Akos Bartha of Hungary won the gold medal in the category U60kg. It was his first European Cup victory. He lost the final in 2015 in Sindelfingen, now he won in Sarajevo. Victor Leboedec lost the final this time, he was the winner in Bratislava last year. Turkish Bilal Ciloglu captured gold in the final U66kg after he defeated Denis Jurakic of Serbia in a field of 25 athletes. Ciloglu is just 17 years young. He was European Cadet Champion U18 in 2015 and Turkish senior champion in 2016. Read more
