Italy warms up in Udine for Junior worlds

The Russian Juniors were the best of all athletes at the Junior European Cup in Udine. With three gold medals the Russians shone at the sixth European Cup of the season. Beside the three gold medals, also five silver medals were achieved and one bronze medal.

Also the French judoka captured three gold medals, the host nation Italy took two titles. Asia Avanzato won her category for women U48kg against Glafira Borisova. Martina Esposito took the gold medal U70kg against Samira Bock of Germany, it was her second gold medal this year. The Italians lost two finals. Also Germany was strong in their weight category U78kg where Anna-Maria Wagner is the senior world champion. In Udine Anna Monta Olek defeated Raffaela Igl in the final.

The men’s final +100kg was a Georgian occasion where Saba Inaneishvili took gold. Russians Ibragimgadzhi Suleimanov bested Daniil Dranovskii in the final U81kg. The French started well with victories in the categories U60kg and U66kg. Romain Valadier Picard claimed the gold U60kg and Maxime Gobert won his division U66kg. Also Gobert claimed his second victory this year.

Elin Henninger of the Netherlands took the victory in the women’s U57kg weight class after she defeated Anna Kriza of Hungary.

The Junior European Cup was an important event in advance of the Junior World Championships in Italy this year. The worlds will be held in Olbia from 6-10- October.
