Croatian judoka Lara Cvjetko became European Cadet Champion in 2017 in Kaunas. She won the European Cup Cadets Follonica and Cadet African Open in Tunis in 2017. In 2018 she won gold at the Cadet European Cup in Zagreb. Lara Cvjetko (CRO) was number 1 of the IJF World Ranking for cadets U57kg in 2017 and 2018. She took a silver medal at the Junior European Cup in Paks in 2019. She clinched a bronze medal at the European Cup U21 Sarajevo in 2019.

Another victory for Dutch Marin Visser, this time the most precious medal of the season. At the Cadet European Championships the Dutch won her category U63kg in which she is fighting for three years. Zagreb crushes all records with almost 800 youngsters

Almost 800 judoka from 37 nations and lots of coaches attended the European Cup for Cadets in Zagreb. Not far away from home, the Hungarian judoka performed best with three gold medals, followed by the Croatian talents, also capturing three gold medals but no other medals, very efficient though. At the third day of the Cadet World Championships Balkan countries seemed to go for their chances. In the girls’ division Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia have good medal chances. Russia is the best cadet European nation since 2005

At the second and last day of individual tournament of the Cadet European Championships Georgia captured two gold medals. Again, seven different nations claimed titles, but some were the same as Friday’s winners. Russia and Georgia were victorious in the medal table. Read more


Russian young men take 7 out of 8 gold medals in Follonica

The first European Cup for Cadets was hosted by Italy. The city of Follonica saw eight Russian youngsters take 50% of all gold medals and a total of 26 medals. The Italian home team had a hopeful results with 9 medals, all three colours. Hungary and Croatia both won two medals. Polish Nikola Szlachta won the first gold medal for her country this season.
