Meriem Bjaoui of Tunisia won the African Championships title in 2016 in Tunis U63kg. In 2015 she was also African Junior Champion. In 2014 she won a medal at African Open in Casablanca. In 2015 she won bronze at the African Games in Brazzaville U63kg. She claimed a bronze medal at the African Games in Rabat in 2019.
