Artem Khomula of the Ukraine won a bronze medal at the European Junior Championships 2015 in Oberwart and U23 silver. He won European Junior silver with the Ukraine team in 2014. Khomula won the European Cup in Prague in 2015. He won bronze at the Grand Prix in Budapest in 2016. He won bronze at the European Open in Lisbon in 2017. Vadzim Shoka wins his first IJF title for Belarus

Vadzim Shoka (BLR) won his first IJF final as he beat Italian youngster Giovanni Esposito with a late flurry in the last 30 seconds of their U73kg gold medal contest. Both Esposito brothers were good today but it was this time Esposito who reached the podium. World number 47 Shoka made a slow start as Esposito looked composed and set about controlling his opponent with his superior kumi-kata and ashi-waza. Read more


Naohisa Takato steals the show in Prague

Out of 56 judoka, lightweight Naohisa Takato showed his world class. The double World Champion and Olympic medallist took the gold medal at the European Open in Prague. Takato who trained at the Grand Slam training camp in Duisburg took the opportunity to feel the bathwater U66kg and grabbed the gold. Not entirely expected as he had good opposition. Read more


Rocky Draksic back with golden confidence for Rio

Former European champion Rok Draksic of Slovenia is back to his best judo after following up on his European bronze medal by winning the Budapest Grand Prix. Draksic has had to dig deep to end a mixed run of results by flying back into form in 2016 and former Cluj Napoca European Open silver medallist Dmytro Kanivets (UKR) was conquered in the U73kg final as the Slovenian pinned the Ukrainian down on the tatami for 20 seconds and ippon.
