Sergio Mattey of Venezuela is one of the best lightweights of his country. He won the PanAm title in 2007 U55kg. He clinched a bronze medal at the Pan American Championship in 2019 in Lima. He captured the gold at the Pan American Open in Santo Domingo in 2019. He took a bronze medal at the Pan American Open in Buenos Aires in 2018. He was victorious at the Pan American Open in Medellin in 2023.
